This oversized, 3-button jacket is made from Madras check fabric produced using traditional techniques in Chennai, India. A Japanese dyeing technique called "tatsumaki shibori" was used to achieve a unique geometric effect.This piece is unlined, allowing to you wear it with the sleeves rolled up like a shirt. It has an oversized, airy fit, and the checkered pattern details add an urban nuance to the design.This piece pairs well with jeans, as well as khaki or white colored pants.About "tatsumaki shibori" dyeingA technique in which a piece of cloth is rolled up into a cylindrical shape, and thread is wound around it from top to bottom. Meaning literally "tornado tie-dye" (竜巻絞り) in Japanese, its name comes from the way that the wound thread resembles a dragon making a tornado as it flies up into the sky.Please note that as the fabric is dyed by hand, the exact finish of each garment will be slightly unique.
