INDIAN BLOCK PRINT PLANTS PATTERN COAT WITH SHIRT-STYLE COLLAR

Oversized, single-layered coat that can be worn like a shirt. Its soft silhouette gracefully utilizes a generous amount of fabric, allowing for a relaxed and flattering fit. By pulling the drawstring at the waist, you can create gathers according to your preference. With its minimalist design, this coat effortlessly complements various outfits. The botanical pattern was created using a traditional Indian method known as block printing. On the other hand, the geometric pattern was achieved through the Japanese technique known as "tatsumaki shibori" (literally: tornado dyeing).
In addition to layering with tops and shirt, this piece can be layered over jackets and blousons.

ABOUT BLOCK PRINTING
Block printing is a traditional Indian craft in which ink is pressed onto fabric using hand-carved teak woodblocks. Natural herbal dyes made from plants and other natural minerals are used for pigments.
Block printing has an extremely long history in India, and can only be done by hand. Motifs of flowers, nuts, animals, etc. are stamped over and over again to make up the pattern, with each layer a slightly different color to the last.

Due to the handmade nature of Indian block printing, you may be able to spot minor flaws such as patterns that have not been lined up perfectly. However, this adds a unique, artisanal nuance to the piece in a way that cannot be achieved by machines.
*Due to the natural dyes that are used, please note that uneven coloring and color loss/transfer may occur. We encourage you to embrace this as part of the ageing process of the garment.
