ABOUT BLOCK PRINTING
Block printing is a traditional Indian craft in which ink is pressed onto fabric using hand-carved teak woodblocks. Natural herbal dyes made from plants and other natural minerals are used for pigments.
Block printing has an extremely long history in India, and can only be done by hand. Motifs of flowers, nuts, animals, etc. are stamped over and over again to make up the pattern, with each layer a slightly different color to the last.
In the case of mass repetition, color matching is done manually by craftsmen, so the density varies depending on the amount of force applied. The work process is dauntingly endless, and you can see faint colors and misaligned patterns, but the greatest attraction is the feel and texture of the artisan taste, which is unique to handmade products that cannot be produced by machines. Because it is a natural dye from India, there is a need to pay attention to color unevenness, color fading and color transfer due to wear and water, but it can also be enjoyed as a change over time. Non-fluorescent detergent, hand wash and dry cleaning recommended.
