INDIAN BLOCK PRINTED PAISLEY HALF-SLEEVE BIG SHIRT WITH FLAP POCKETS

Shirt with a front placket and classic collar. It has an oversized fit and half length sleeves.
The botanical pattern was created using block printing, a traditional Indian dyeing technique. The color is dark brown with a hint of red.
This piece is made from light and airy cotton fabric, and has a loose fit that prevents the fabric from sticking to the skin. It is ideal for hot summer weather.
The sleeves are easy to roll up if you find the half length too long. We suggest wearing this shirt with wide-leg shorts and sandals for an Eastern-inspired look.
As for color coordination, the print matches well with black, navy, khaki and white colored pants.


ABOUT BLOCK PRINTING
Block printing is a traditional Indian craft in which ink is pressed onto fabric using hand-carved teak woodblocks. Natural herbal dyes made from plants and other natural minerals are used for pigments.
Block printing has an extremely long history in India, and can only be done by hand. Motifs of flowers, nuts, animals, etc. are stamped over and over again to make up the pattern, with each layer a slightly different color to the last.

The work process is so endless that it is almost mind-boggling, and although the color blurring and pattern deviations can be seen, the greatest appeal is the unique, individual, artisanal atmosphere and texture that can only be achieved by handmade products, which cannot be produced by machines.
Due to the natural dyes that are used, please note that uneven coloring and color loss/transfer may occur. We encourage you to embrace this as part of the ageing process of the garment.
Dry cleaning or hand washing using a gentle detergent is recommended.
