Wool, leather, tweed — the latest creations from discord Yohji Yamamoto inherit Yohji Yamamoto’s distinctive worldview, expressed through the interplay of diverse materials. Carrying forward the brand’s philosophy of garment-making, discord Yohji Yamamoto transforms these concepts of material use and structural design into new and evolving forms.
Each lily motif is carefully crafted by hand, with fibers layered one by one through a meticulous needle-punching process. Every flower is individually placed by artisans, resulting in delicate nuances and a three-dimensional texture that cannot be replicated by machines — giving each piece its own unique expression.
A solid black wool gauze and a gray tweed are joined into a single stole using the needle-punch technique. By intentionally offsetting the two different fabrics, the stole takes on natural movement and depth when draped, revealing varying material expressions depending on the viewing angle.
Silk wool fabric with a smooth, refined touch is interwoven with randomly placed silk slivers, needle-punched by hand. The overlapping fibers create a rich, dimensional texture and supple depth, embodying the beauty of craftsmanship.
