discord Yohji Yamamoto will release three umbrella styles starting Friday, June 5.
The collection — consisting of a folding parasol, folding umbrella, and long umbrella — was created in collaboration with Fukui Yōgasa, a luxury umbrella manufacturer based in Fukui Prefecture.
All models feature Fukui Yōgasa’s patented universal-design handle, while the wooden grip is specially engraved with the Yohji Yamamoto signature.
The parasol is crafted using “khadi,” a traditional handwoven Indian textile. Woven from hand-spun cotton and linen yarns, the fabric is distinguished by its rich texture and natural character.
For the rain umbrellas, the collection adopts Fukui Yōgasa’s signature “Nurenza” model. Developed in response to the common inconvenience of water droplets from umbrellas wetting clothing and shoes on trains or in cars, Nurenza uses ultra water-repellent fibers rather than conventional water-repellent coating. With a single shake, water droplets are easily shed, allowing the umbrella to remain almost completely dry.
