Yohji Yamamoto Umbrella

Starting Saturday, June 7, the "Yohji Yamamoto Umbrella," a dual-purpose umbrella made with traditional Koshu weaving, will be available in limited quantities at THE SHOP YOHJI YAMAMOTO.

The Yohji Yamamoto Umbrella is a Made-in-Japan, all-weather umbrella crafted by Komiya Shoten, a long-established store based in Higashi-Nihonbashi. Each umbrella is meticulously handmade, with careful adjustments made to the fabric tension and stitching to achieve a beautiful, long umbrella-like silhouette when opened.

The tip and handle ring feature signature-engraved brass components, finished with a luxurious and elegant black nickel coating.

Koshu weaving is a traditional textile craft with a 400-year history in Yamanashi Prefecture. The umbrella fabric is made using specially dyed threads to achieve a deep black tone, woven into an original satin-based textile. The result is a rich, lustrous color and a substantial texture. The edge of the fabric is finished using the selvage, resulting in a clean, stitch-free design. The fabric is also treated with water-repellent and waterproof coatings.

We invite you to experience this special piece at THE SHOP YOHJI YAMAMOTO.
