Under the theme of “Anti-Mode,” S’YTE, inheriting the distinctive cutting and silhouettes of Yohji Yamamoto Inc., presents the second special collaboration with Kazuo Kamimura, the legendary manga artist often described as a “master illustrator of the Shōwa era.” The collection will be released on Thursday, March 19, and will be available at the official online store THE SHOP YOHJI YAMAMOTO, S’YTE Shibuya PARCO, WILDSIDE YOHJI YAMAMOTO, Ground Y Nagoya PARCO, and Ground Y + S’YTE Sapporo PARCO.
Celebrated for his singular aesthetic, Kazuo Kamimura created works of fragile yet captivating beauty that continue to fascinate audiences today. This second collaboration draws from several of his most iconic works, including the legendary Lady Snowblood (Shura Yukihime), the socially influential Dōsei Jidai (The Age of Cohabitation), and a series of cover illustrations from the 1970s. Through the lens of S’YTE, the collection brings together the distinct atmospheres of these three works, translating their visual worlds into contemporary fashion.

A striking set-up defined by the dramatic contrast of black and blood-red evokes the atmosphere of Lady Snowblood. By unfastening the buttons of the jacket and trousers, the heroine Yuki gradually appears—allowing the garment to reveal different expressions depending on how it is worn.

A layered set-up featuring sketch-style prints conceals and reveals Yuki’s intense gaze. When the shirt buttons are undone and the fabric drapes open, her face emerges from within the composition. The trousers depict Yuki holding her sword, accompanied by Kamimura’s signature. The lightweight fabric allows the imagery to move fluidly with the body, revealing fragments of the artwork as the wearer moves.

A graphic shirt with a bold back print captures one of the most iconic scenes from Lady Snowblood—the moment when Yuki delivers a decisive strike in the rain, fulfilling a long-held vengeance. The accompanying silk tie also features the original cover artwork from the series.

Another printed shirt presents an omnibus-style composition of Kamimura’s recurring motifs—women, flowers, and umbrellas—drawn from Lady Snowblood and various magazine covers and illustrations from the era. Like the original works, the design invites the viewer to discover intricate details throughout.

A look combining omnibus-print trousers, cut with raw edges reminiscent of sword slashes, is complemented by accessories such as a hat and a silk tie featuring artwork from Dōsei Jidai. Even with the bold all-over print, the styling remains understated, allowing the wearer’s individuality to stand out.

The souvenir jacket features an iconic embroidered design: delicate umbrella and flower motifs on the front, and a dramatic back embroidery depicting Yuki poised with an umbrella, taken from the Lady Snowblood cover illustration. The acetate satin fabric adds a subtle sheen, while washer finishing and a double-zip closure allow variations in silhouette, making the piece easily wearable as a unisex garment.

The collection also includes graphic T-shirts and bags featuring cover illustrations from Lady Snowblood. The T-shirts are produced using a special-order body by Kume Sen-i, constructed with a seamless tubular knit for enhanced comfort. The bag features double-sided printing, offering two visual expressions: the collaboration logo on one side and the Lady Snowblood cover artwork on the other.
