S’YTE×KUME.JP 90th Anniversary Collection

Under the theme of “Anti-Mode,” S’YTE, which inherits Yohji Yamamoto’s signature cutting and silhouette, will release an anniversary collection in collaboration with KUME.SEN-I, a long-established manufacturer that has been dedicated to JAPAN QUALITY and producing T-shirts for over half a century, in celebration of KUME’s 90th anniversary. The collection launches on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

This collection features two special T-shirts that fuse S’YTE’s essence with KUME’s renowned Hokusai Project. The designs blend masterpieces by Katsushika Hokusai with works by his daughter Ōi, reinterpreted in a rock album cover style, as well as a striking piece where a guitar illustrated in calligraphy transcends time to merge with a scene from Chūgi Suikoden Gahon.

Hokusai×oi by Hipgnosis homage T-shirt

This design incorporates some of Hokusai’s late masterpieces, including Susanoo no Mikoto Yakujin Taiji no Zu (1845), Willow and Birds, Spider’s Thread, and Salmon Fillet with Camellia, alongside an illustration from Eiri Nichiyō Onna Chōhōki—a practical illustrated guide for Edo-period women—created by Hokusai’s third daughter, Ōi. A culmination of works from the Hokusai school, reimagined with an homage to the legendary designer collective “Hipgnosis,” this T-shirt feels like a rock album cover in itself.

Hokusai×Love Guitar Tokyo Calling T-shirt

Chūgi Suikoden Gahon was a Japanese illustrated adaptation of the Chinese classic Water Margin, with illustrations by Hokusai. In this design, the heroic figures Liu Tang and Lei Heng are depicted brandishing guitars instead of swords. The guitar motif references S’YTE’s early “Love Guitar” graphic series by the duo wabisabi, making this piece a true fusion of S’YTE and Japonism.

Each T-shirt comes with a graphic sticker.
