Y’s Unveils “Tokyo Girls,” the Latest Photo Series for the 2025-26 A/W Collection by Photographer Max Vadukul, Shot in Tokyo
Rather than portraying the symbolic landscapes of Tokyo—such as neon lights and crowded intersections—“Tokyo Girls” exposes the skeletal structure of the city to visually reveal the essence of Y’s. The series captures anonymity, tension, and the surreal theatricality that lurks within the metropolis.
“I wasn’t interested in the Tokyo that everyone imagines—no neon, no scramble crossings. I wanted to capture emptiness, pressure, surveillance, and the strange elegance that hides within,” says Vadukul.
This is more than just fashion photography—it is a performance.
Actress Ai Hashimoto appears not as a model, but as a performer emerging from a psychological landscape, accompanied by three other performers. Each presence stands out against the unified looks of the Y’s 2025-26 Autumn/Winter Collection.
A “shadow photographer” dressed in Y’s for men surrounds the performers—tension and shadows are born through movement, and a story unfolds.

Brimming with vitality, the photographs follow the 2023-24 A/W, 2024 S/S, and 2024-25 A/W series, and have been specially compiled into a book designed by Creative Director Claudio Dell’Olio.
Technical prowess and artistry elevate the project into an iconic work—realistic yet refined, embodying the very essence of Y’s. Additionally, an animated video by Daniele Basilico expands the narrative into motion, adding depth, rhythm, and texture to the photo series.
“Tokyo Girls” carries the spirit and dynamism reminiscent of Vadukul’s early photographic works with Yohji Yamamoto in the 1980s. Elegance and imperfection, control and chaos—this dialogue gives birth to a new Y’s 2025-26 Autumn/Winter Collection.
